Confirmed Referral

Understand what it means when a referral is confirmed and what steps to take once your organization has been selected to provide services.

Confirming a Referral

Confirming a referral indicates that your organization has been officially selected to provide services for a patient. This is a critical step in the referral process and signals that you can proceed with care coordination.

What Does “Confirmed” Mean?

A referral is marked as Confirmed when the referring organization selects your organization from the available options.

Once confirmed:

  • Your organization has been awarded the referral

  • You can proceed with scheduling and initiating services

  • The referral status will update across both organizations

How a Referral Becomes Confirmed

  1. You receive and review a referral in the Incoming Workspace

  2. You respond by accepting the referral and (if applicable) providing availability

  3. The referring organization reviews responses

  4. They select your organization and confirm the referral

Once selected, the status will update to Confirmed.

How to Identify a Confirmed Referral

In the Incoming Workspace:

  • The referral status will display as Confirmed

  • Additional actions, such as initiating service, may become available

What to Do After Confirmation

Once a referral is confirmed:

  • Begin coordinating care and scheduling services

  • Communicate with the referring organization as needed using chat

  • Update the referral as services are initiated

Important Reminder

Do not initiate services until the referral has been confirmed.
Confirmation ensures that your organization has been officially selected and avoids duplicate or uncoordinated care.

Best Practices

  • Monitor referrals regularly for status updates

  • Respond quickly to increase the likelihood of being selected

  • Confirm scheduling details promptly after confirmation

Why This Matters

Properly managing confirmed referrals helps:

  • Ensure clear ownership of patient care

  • Prevent duplicate services or confusion

  • Support smooth and timely care transitions
